In honor of Mother’s Day, we here at Adrian Durban Florist got one of our very own moms and floral designers to weigh in on what she loves about working with flowers and raising kids.

How did you get into floral work? I’ve always wanted to do it. After years as a nurse with no desire to return to nursing, I wanted a job I would enjoy going to

What do you love most about working with flowers? I get to use my creative side.

Favorite flower? Tulips

If you design, do you have a signature style? Are you known for any specific approach or preference? I prefer free-flowing arrangements over very structured ones.

What do you love most about being a mom? Having two really cool people who I raised, and they turned out pretty good!

What do your kids think about what you do? Are they into flowers? They are happy I am doing something I really enjoy. Neither are really into flowers.

What flowers or flower design do moms really want for Mother’s Day, from your point of view? Speaking as both a mom and a flower expert? If you could pick one design from your selection to receive yourself, which would it be? I think any mom would love anything her children helped to create by either picking out specific flowers that are their mom’s favorite or favorite colors of flowers. I personally would love a huge bouquet of tulips in pinks, purples, yellow and orange!
