Acts of Kindness of Sweetest Day

In 1916, caring people across the Midwest established a new holiday tradition  – Sweetest Day. Originally aimed at brightening the day of down-and-out neighbors, people would give out sweets and candies to help bring a smile. These days, Sweetest Day continues as a regional tradition, although it has spread to other parts of the country – and we think, should be celebrated everywhere!

October 21 is Sweetest Day, and gives us all the opportunity to identify people in our own lives who may need a little encouragement. Adrian Durban Florist has plenty of ideas for sweet gifts and flowers we know will convey your love and friendship.

Who is a candidate for a Sweetest Day gift? Perhaps your friend who is still looking for a job, or someone who is missing a loved one. Maybe you know someone recuperating from an illness or injury, or have a relative who is discouraged. No matter what the reason, a Sweetest Day gift is designed to tell them “You’re the sweetest!” and let them know that you are rotting for them and thinking of them.

Some great choices for Sweetest Day florals included Peruvian lilies – or alstroemeria – like the ones featured here. Gerbera daisies are cheerful and uplifting, and lilies are bright and happy. We also love spray roses and sunflowers – not to mention, chocolate! Don’t forget to add a hand-written note of encouragement and support, letting them know that you have their back.

Remember: Nothing says love and concern like your time – so how about picking up a happy bouquet of daisies and visiting your friend or loved one?

On October 21, show someone you love that they are not alone. Stop by Adrian Durban Florist or browse our online collections. Our floral designs and bouquets are guaranteed to generate a smile.
